But just yesterday, I was on my way home and I think t’was around 5, I did my usual routine, rode a Jeepney and pay for a fare. It went well until the Jeep stopped in UN (United Nation) Avenue and a man in a polo red shirt, a khaki short with his clean cut hair rode and sat beside me. Felt weird because there were 4 or 5 people on that jeep which means there are a lot of space where he can sat but he chose to sat beside me and tries to cram his body on mine.
So I moved a little but he did the same thing and faced me without hesitation and said “Pasensya ka na miss nangangailangan lang talaga ako. Wag kang sisigaw holdap to.” I was shocked but tries to keep myself calm but I really don’t know what to do, that was my first time I encountered that thing. So I asked what does he want and he said “Hubarin mo yang kwintas mo, cellphone mo akin na” so I did gave him. I thought he was done but he said ”Wallet mo asaan” andthat’s when I start to beg him but he pointed a knife on my side so I don’t know what else I can do but to give my wallet, I had no choice. After it, he asked for my earrings, lucky, the driver looked on our side and I gave him a “Tulungan mo ko manong” look and he understands it and drove the jeepney slowly and finally stopped, he gets a wood and walked but the robber noticed it and immediately ran down. I was completely paralyzed and don’t know what to do and how will I go home without a single cent on my bag. The driver and all the people on that jeep asked “Okay ka lang ba miss? Saan ka ba galing?” and I said “Okay lang po. Galing po akong school.” then an old man asked “Saan ka ba umuuwi neng? May pera ka pa ba?” and I said “Sa Makati pa po. Wala na nga po eh.” then he asked “Magkano ba pauwi mo?” and I said ”Mga 50 pa po.” then he gave me a 50 pesos. I said “Thank you po. Sobrang salamat po.” and even accompany me to FX Terminal.
Despite on what happened I still felt lucky and blessed because nothing happened to me and the robber didn’t noticed my Canon 550D on my bag. I’ll be forever thankful to God because he didn’t leave me, I know he was there and gave me enough strength to escape that “holdap” experience. So to those who are reading this, Please be more attentive, even being extra careful is not enough especially when you’re a commuter. Be aware and knows what you should do in times like this. I hope this will serve as a warning to all of you.
